Ruisdael Suarez was born in Montevideo in 1929 and passed away in 2004.
In 1949 he self teaches painting, unsatisfied with the results he abandons the brushes and dedicates himself to poetry.
In1955 he begins experimenting with engraving and joins the Club del Grabado de Montevideo where he remains until 1961 specializing in xilography. Under the influence of Social Realism he created the series of the fishermen.

Between 1959 and 1968 he was granted the following awards:
XI Salón Nacional, Premio Banco República por la xilografía Grupo de Pescadores.
XIV Salón Municipal, Premio Adquisición por el linóleo Basural.
XXVII Salón Nacional, 2do. Premio por la madera-linóleo titulada Nocturno.
XXXI Salón Nacional, Premio Adquisición de pintura con su esmalte y objeto Paraguas.

On October 7th, 2005 an homage exhibit takes place at the Sala Mayor del Subte Municipal de Montevideo.
In December 2005 his work is presenten in the exhibit Rescue, organized by Sala de Arte del Paseo, Punta del Este.
In March 2006, his work is included in the exhibit Circa 69 organized by Galería Vasari in Buenos Aires.
